We had a HUGE win at Tuesday's city council meeting when the Bike Transportation Plan Update was brought to Council for recommendations. Mountain View's City Council directed Alta Planners (who are the consultants updating the Plan) to:
- include a policy around using protected or buffered bike lanes by default on fast streets - in 35 mph zones and higher
- extend the feasibility study for the Permanente Creek Trail Extension to look at going all the way to Castro School. Currently the study would stop at Central Expressway.
- add maps to the Plan that show bike routes of our neighboring cities of Palo Alto, Los Altos and Sunnyvale
Three cheers for Vice Mayor Pat Showealter and Councilmembers Lenny Siegel, Ken Rosenberg and Chris Clark for recommending the policy and study extension. Woot, woot, woot!!
